2 Should leisure activities for children be educative or non-educative?

Activities of children cannot be educative all the time. Some respite is needed from learning. Children also need to have some fun and frolic. They need to engage in diverse other activities that will help other aspects of personalities to grow. Some activities need to be recreational so that children can have some fun. Some activities can help them  learn some other skills such as sports or singing. There should be a balance between learning and play. Children can have their preferences depending upon their liking or natural talent.

Children devote considerable time to studies in school and at home. Too much emphasis on education will make learning boring and a child can either find education burdensome or totally lose interest in it.

Children need time to play with other children. He should play outdoor games. He should make a lot of friends. By interacting with other children he will have many learning experiences and learn many social skills.

Reading habit should be inculcated and it should be fun. It will not only increase their knowledge, intellect, language and so on but can be a wonderful pastime that a child can pursue himself.

Children should play sports. He can choose indoor or outdoor sports. He will get an opportunity to interact with other children, learn sportsmanship, leadership qualities as well as decision making. Outdoor sports will promote physical growth by providing good physical exercise.

Children can watch films and cartoons or play computer games as long as they don’t get addicted to them. Such activities will provide diversion. Children need to have some fun every now and then.

Some non-educative activities can be seriously taken up has hobbies. Many hobbies are formed from childhood. Every adult needs to have hobbies later in life that can provide diversion from household chores, routine office work, tensions and problems.

So we can conclude and say that children need to have some fun every now and then. They can take up activities that are not educative in a certain sense. Such activities also aid mental and physical growth. Activities like reading, drawing, cooking, handicrafts, playing musical instruments and watching educational programs are both educative and entertaining.
