TOEFL is a widely accepted English-language test in the world. It is a Standardized test that evaluates English proficiency of people whose native language is not English. The TOEFL test is developed and administered by the US-based “Educational Testing Service” (ETS). In India Prometric Testing Services Private Ltd administers the test.
The TOEFL IBT measures four language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing. In Speaking and Writing section, 2 or more of these skills are combined to respond to a question.
The test lasts roughly four hours.
Reading – 60-100 minutes.
There are 3-5 passages academic in nature. There are 14 questions per passage.
Listening – 60-90 minutes.
It consists of 4-6 lectures and 2-3 conversations.
Speaking – 20 minutes
It consists of 2 Independent speaking tasks and 4 Integrated speaking tasks.
Writing – 50 minutes
It consists of 1 independent writing task and 1integrated writing task.
Computer based TOEFL test is held all-round-the-year. The test is administered from Monday to Friday, twice a day, morning and afternoon.
The test scores are valid for two years.
You get to know your Listening and Reading section scores immediately after taking the test. Your official TOEFL score reports will be mailed approximately two to four weeks after you take the test. Up to 4 official score reports will be sent directly to the institutions you select when you register.
