It has been snowing for three days. Right.

The dog was sleeping since morning. Wrong.

The dog had been sleeping since morning. Right.

He was suffering from cold. Right.

He was suffering from cold for two days. Wrong.

He had been suffering from cold for two days. Right.

I am living in this house for ten years. Wrong.

I have been living in this house for ten years. Right.
