You normally go shopping in the area you live. However you think some of the facilities for the shoppers could be increased. Write a letter to your local newspaper. In your letter:
- Say in general what you like about shopping in your area.
- Say what is wrong with the facilities.
- Suggest how they can be improved.
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I read your newspaper daily. I especially like to read the column you publish on every Saturday about public places in Ahmedabad. I live in Gurukul area. There is a small market where people come to shop daily. All types of shops are there. This market is quite popular with the local people.
I too do most of my shopping from the Gurukul market. What I like particularly about the shops here is that the prices are very reasonable. Besides there is still a scope for bargaining. I buy all my grocery from here. There are lots of garments shops so I do not have to go to other markets to purchase clothes. There are branded shops like Liberty and Bata for footwear. There is a big outlet for stationary called Navneet. There are shops that sell crockery and curtain materials. The list is endless.
One major problems faced by the people here is the narrow road which is always congested with heavy traffic. It is very risky for cyclists and school going children. There is no proper parking space for vehicles. It is very difficult for pedestrians to walk or cross the road. Hence I would like to suggest to the corporation to widen the road and make a planned parking space for all types of vehicles. At any time of the day, there are no traffic policemen to monitor the traffic. That puts the life of two-wheeler drivers at risk.
Another problem faced by the shoppers is that of stray cattle who roam around freely amid all the chaos caused by the heavy traffic. Just a week boy a child was attacked by an angry cow. He got severely injured and had to be taken to the hospital. I request the authorities to solve this problem of cattle menace as soon as possible. This is necessary for the safety of the shoppers.
Hope that the authorities will quickly take action on the suggestions above in the interest of the public.
