Forests are lungs of the earth

‘Forests are the lungs of the earth. Destruction of the world’s forests mounts to death of the world we currently know. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Forests are the lungs of the earth because they purify the air. They absorb carbon dioxide from the air and release oxygen. We breathe fresh air because the forests clean the air. But the forest cover is getting depleted day by day. Man is cutting down forests to fulfill his needs.

Due to increasing population and industrialization the demand for wood is always increasing. More houses and more houses have to be built.

The people living in the villages and in the remote areas in developing countries still depend upon wood to meet their requirement for fuel for cooking purpose.

The unsocial elements in connivance with the officials cut down the trees illegally and sell the wood.

The forests are useful to us in many ways. The forests are the homes of wild animals. The forest gives us valuable products like medicine, gum, soft wood for making paper, and so on.

The forests attract rain. As the air above the forests is cool the water vapour above the forests condenses and there is rainfall. Clouds passing over the forests get condensed and there is rainfall.

The forests conserve the soil by preventing it from erosion. The trees and plants hold the soil together.

It takes millions of years to build up forests. It is the natural wealth of a nation as well as the world. The destruction of the forest will disturb the ecological balance of the world.
