Countries spend billions on space exploration. Scientists want to research on planets, stars, gallaxies, spaceships, satellites, rockets, universe, possibilities of existence of life on other planets, aliens and so on. This research is very useful to us many ways.
Space research has greatly helped technological advancement in agriculture, weather forecast, communication, environmental safety, entertainment and so on.
Man is curious to know all about the universe. He wants to know about its origin and how big it is. He wants to know if colonies can be set up on other planets. He is very eager to know if life is possible on other planets. Some knowledge can be useful to us in many ways.
Meteorites often hit our planet. Scientists come to know when a meteorite can hit our earth and how we can change its path. A single meteorite can destroy our earth if it strikes it.
Man made satellites help us know about the earth’s atmosphere and changes that are causing climatic conditions. Satellites can help us predict when natural disasters such as storms, cyclones or typhoons can strike us. Most countries have their own satellites in space, which send pictures of weather conditions. Lives of thousands of people can be saved by providing prior information about natural calamities. Farmers and fishermen who are out in the seas can be forewarned and their lives saved.
TV telecasts and radio broadcasts are due to satellites. In other words entertainment that we have at home is due to space technology. On television we can watch live telecast of events that take place in other parts of the world.
Mobile phones and Internet connections are also through satellites and we are thus able to communicate with friends and relatives. All business communication is through internet and it is speedy and saves valuable time.
The Internet is an ocean of knowledge. We have access to knowledge on every subject on earth. Ebooks and lots of free information are available.
Space research requires a lot of money. Some people disapprove of this expenditure. They might think that this money should be used to provide food, clothing, housing and health facilities to the poor. There are some countries which are very poor. The people do not have enough food to eat. They suffer from poverty.
Finally I would like to conclude that space exploration has made remarkable discoveries and our knowledge of space and technology has greatly enhanced. Technology has definitely changed and improved man’s life for better. We say that while the nations spend on space technology on one hand, they must also try to remove the sufferings of people who are poor and life a miserable life by spending on poor countries, by doing medical research and so on.
