The world is a small village where one global culture is evolving. People move to other parts of the world to study, work or settle. Improvement in transportation and communication technology have facilitated this development. A universal language that could be spoken and understood by all can bring people of different nations together.

English is spoken in many countries. Many consider it to be the universal language. All information on internet is in English. English is used for all business communications.

A universal language can be a boon to international relationships. It can bring countries and people together. People of different countries need to communicate with each other for various purpose such as business, trade and diplomatic relations. A universal language can remove language barriers among people.

On the other hand, a universal language would mean death to many languages. Many languages will die. This will be a great loss to world culture. Already too much emphasis on English has retarded the development of regional languages in India. People are very eager to learn and speak English. They send their children to English medium schools.

The richness and diversity of the world culture would reduce. Language lends a special significance to a culture. Music, songs and dances have their cultural significance because of the regional language.

The feeling of awe, wonder, admiration for other cultures will not be there. Everything will become too similar and familiar. People like the differences in their cultures. The element of newness and unknown will not be there.

I would like to conclude that a universal language is required for countries to work together and interact. Globalization cannot be reversed. No country live in isolation. They are interdependent for trade and business. A universal language can remove communication barriers among nations.
